LG was born May 8, 1688, in Essay, near Alençon, France. LG's older brother Pierre des Brosses de La Guérinière managed the Academy of Equitation of Caen. LG's niece married another famous écuyer M. Pierre de La Pleignère, chevalier de Plesney.
In 1715, LG holding his diploma of "Ecuyer du Roy" moved to Paris to manage an Academy of Equitation that was located near the north side of the fountain Médicis. From there his reputation as an outsanding écuyer and teacher grew rapidly worldwide.
In 1730, the Grand Ecuyer of France, Prince Charles de Lorraine nominated LG manager of the "Manège Royal des Tuileries." From there, LG contributed to the glory of the French school and to the prestige of "La Grande Ecurie du Roy" in Versailles.
LG had started publishing the first volume of his book "Ecole de cavalerie" in 1729. He finished publishing both volumes in 1731. In 1741, he published an abriger "Elements de cavalerie" .
